About Connecting Champions

Connecting Champions is a nonprofit organization that asks kids & young adults with cancer “what are you passionate about,” and connects them with a mentor for their cancer journey.

Whatever their kids & young adults want to be when they grow up, Connecting Champions finds someone who shares their passion, who can give a behind-the-scenes look into the field, and who will be there every step of the way.

Connecting Champions gives kids & young adults the agency to explore professions, envision life beyond cancer, and reclaim their identity.

Cancer Caring Center

Having cancer is ENOUGH to cope with but Covid-19 increased feelings of isolation, fear and anxiety. When the pandemic emerged, the Cancer Caring Center quickly launched zoom support groups to help patients and families navigate the cancer journey. 30 monthly meetings are now offered to address these specific needs. A small sampling offered includes Brain Tumor, African-American Women, Young Women’s Breast Cancer, Metastatic, Caregivers, Head and Neck Support. New programs were added including for chemo brain, Gastrointestinal Cancers and Happy Feet, which incorporates movement with support and a 10 Session Grief Support Series that guides loved ones experiencing a loss. The Center experienced a 30% increase in requests for telehealth – telephone support to individuals and couples for those with issues too personal for a group setting. Wellness options feature nutrition, art therapy, gentle exercise, and yoga. In a partnership with Reed Smith LLC, the Center also provides free Advance Directives and Wills. For 33 years, the Center has adapted and grown to meet the ever-changing needs of patients and families. The Cancer Caring Center merged in 2021 with Our Clubhouse to form Cancer Bridges
